Under My Skin

I'd like to propose that the following phrases be dropped from the English Language immediately:

-- It's ON!

-- Don't even go there

-- Been there, done that (with or without "bought the T-shirt")

-- You go, girl

-- Step up (particularly in the reality show context)

-- Let's talk about that offline

--- Cool beans

--- Homey don't play dat (I mean, seriously. What year is it?)

Your turn...

I'd like to add one more---"Let's touch base."
Hate that one.

Let's do...breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc.

I am guilty of using "you go girl" every once and a while but I hate that phrase. I am striking it immediately!

I loathe "cool beans" and "I'm out or outie" or whatever sign off phrase that indicates you are leaving.

Great topic!!! I will have to come back later today to see other horrible catch phrases.

So far, both excellent additions. I think Cool Beans may be my number one hated phrase.

Lets try to take it to the next level.

It's the gold standard.

These make me want to ask someone to beat me with a baseball bat.

I get really, really angry when I hear the words "THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX."

"TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL" is also VERY high on my list of most hated.

Also, "YOU GO, BOY" - it's out there, people say it.

I would add "exsqueeze me" but I kinda love it.

I'd also like to add anything that was said by either Austin Powers or Ace Ventura.

Here I am again! Are you sick of my phrases? Anything said by Wayne or Garth from Wayne's World. Party time, excellent! I like "exsqueeze me" :-)

I loathe "giddy up" or "anyhoo". I refuse to even speak to a person that uses those phrases and I notice a lot of people in the blog world use them frequently.

I agree with everything but the 'cool beans'. It's either that or 'groovy', both of which pop out before i realize what's said. I would like to add to the list 30 year old or older women calling each other 'DUDE'.

I totally agree about the Wayne's World thing that Alyssa mentioned (I know that is probably crushing to you, Bossy. Sorry!).

I can't stand when people start a sentence w/ "Dude." Such as "Dude, did you see that pink cardigan set on sale?" Uh, my name is not "DUDE" nor am I even a "DUDE".

How about "whatever" or "da bomb"? UGH!

I actually had a boss who would say, "Yeah, that's the ticket!"

I HATE cool beans too!

I also cringe when people say, "the fact of the matter is..." even though I catch myself saying it sometimes!

great post!
