The Chalkboard Debate

One of the things I really like to do is shop for my home. I love to change the decor with the seasons, and am in the midst of turning my house from summer to fall. This involves switching the stuff on the mantles, the table settings, the front door, etc. I am a sucker for Pottery Barn -- looking at that catlog thrills me and kills me at the same time, because it's so beautiful, but I want it all!

Recently, I saw the cutest little chalkboard that I thought would look great in our kitchen. It's not very big, but was the perfect size for leaving notes or list making or whatever. For some reason (and this is completely out of character for me), I mentioned it to my husband. Normally I would just buy it and not think twice about it.

He freaked.

It was the weirdest thing. He never cares about stuff like that, especially something as minor as a kitchen chalkboard. For some reason, he was under the impression that if I had a chalkboard at my disposal, my inner school marm would appear and would leave him notes like:
"Mugs go in the dishwasher-- not in the sink".

Hmm. That does sort of sound like me. But I haven't given up hope yet.

A Little Bossy

It's true, I am somewhat bossy. As my husband, the bar owner, says, "There sure are a lot of rules in this house". But, that's the way I like it, and he's getting the hang of the rules. It's fun to tell other people what to do, don't you think?

Anyway, I'm just getting started on blogging. It seems like a lot of funny things happen to me (at least they're funny to me) so I wanted to write them down. It's hard to know where to start though, so bear with me.

A few things about me: I have a fairly serious addiction to purses, diet coke, and cheese dip. I watch a lot of television and I find it difficult to function when it is really hot outside. As you can imagine, I am extrememly happy that fall is here.
